Saturday July 18, 11am - 1pm

Tipitina's Music Office Co-Op/Shreveport and the Red River Songwriters' Association will be hosting a workshop at the Shreveport Co-Op. This event is open to the public and will be discussing the topic of Songwriting Demos. The first hour of the event will be dedicated to "How to Record a Song Demo" while the second hour will be dedicated to "What to Do With Your Demo".

This informative workshop will educate and inform songwriters on the basics of how to record a simple song demo using a computer program called "GarageBand". In addition, participants will learn how to use technology to get their song exposed to potential producers, singers and promoters.

The 2009 Guitar Showdown is fast approaching! As part of the James Burton International Guitar Festival, Tipitina's Music Office Co-Op/Shreveport is Co-Sponsoring this awesome talent competition for guitar players ages 6-21. Silent Treatment

Jon Rothell, a Co-Op member, wrote and directed this great silent movie that was shown at Robinson Film Center last night. A good bit of the film was edited on our Final Cut Pro/Mac rig right here at 700 Texas Street.

The film utilized cast, crew, and filming locations from Shreveport. The music score is amazing!

What are we doing here?

Since coming on board as the new Manager for the Shreveport Co-Op, I've struggled with providing a brief answer as to what we offer.

Well, here's my best attempt at a short answer:

Simply put, the Co-Op provides fully-equipped work spaces for anyone who works in music and digital media. For those who do not have access to such resources, we provide: - Mac and PC computers with WiFi, laser printers and scanners, and fax machine. - Page layout and web design tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash. - Music Productivity software like Protools LE, Reason, Cubase LE, and Garageband. - Video Productivity tools and software like Final Cut Pro, Live Type, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, Cinema Tools, and Color. The Co-Op also provides access to specialized media tools for desktop publishing and audio/video recording and editing. Seminars, workshops, clinics, and performance opportunities round out the Co-Op’s structured offerings for music/media entrepreneurs.

I'm fortunate to see a steady stream of creative people use the Co-Op for their varied creative needs. Our members use this office to create CD artwork, posters, record new music, edit movies, edit music videos, build web sites, improve their resume, collect and share ideas, book their performances, and a host of other fascinating ways.

Not surprisingly, Music Office Co-Op members consistently report substantial increases to their music/media income, directly attributable to participation in the Co-Op!

So that's the short answer....or as short as I could make it!
